rain drops

Trapped between electric
fluorescents and moody blues.
Raindrops cling to the ends
of twigs, glass ornaments
or jewels.

So many different types of spheres:
mist, big slow drops from the ives,
tiny ones decorating arbors,
bubbles gurgling in the rain buckets.
All these from an icy grey sky
come down to rest and feed us.

All the while the people who roam
with their shopping bags and grocery carts
full of bottles and trinkets,
blankets and brooms,
amble on,
solid mass for the rain to fall upon
and burst into a thousand more circles.
